Today, I decided I didn't care about my pride, and so I asked this girl out in a text. After an hour of no response I asked again. Later I got a text saying, "I'm sorry, This is Emily's mom. Emily isn't here at the moment, but if I were you, I wouldn't ask again." I was rejected by her mom. FML

Today, after telling a friend I was contemplating asking a girl to prom, my friend took my phone, told me to have some balls, and texted the girl asking her to prom. She said no, because I asked her over text instead of in person. She refuses to believe I didn't send the text. FML

I applaud you, it dosen't matter how to tell someone how you feel its just that you tell them, I would actually text her again and if you get the mom thing then there is no doubt its her. regrets worse than rejection.

Ouch. Her mom might just be a little bit overprotective. However, next time, please just call her. I was always phone-shy, as well as terrified of a boy finding out I liked him before I met my husband. BUT, what are you really going to lose? Call her up and ask her out! The worst that could happen is she could say "no." "No" isn't that bad compared to the regret you'd feel over not asking her out at all.
