Today, I decided to cover a coworker's closing shift because she felt sick. My boss even gave me a $10 gift card for doing it. I felt good about it, until I walked outside and found that my car had been stolen. FML

At least you did something nice for somebody else

Cars are worth money. People like having money. Some people don't like working at a job to make money. You can take someone's car and get money for it. Car theft is a logical enterprise. Of course, it is totally unacceptable in a civilized society which is why it is a crime and people caught doing it go to jail. I hope that straightens out things for you.

The good dead people are punished? My, oh my.

What did the grateful dead ever do to be punished?!

who cares,he just lost a car,a car man!

It seems you are knew so I will be polite 56. Here on FML we refrain from tlking lik dis.

Everything happens for a reason OP <3 you sound like a good guy <3 God won't disappoint ya

Yeah, well, if there's a god, he didn't do a very good job at making sure OP's car didn't get stolen.

I honestly don't understand how someone could be low scum enough to steal a car. It boggles my mind. Good luck getting it back OP

The car park should have CCTV in it. If it doesn't, then it can easily be retrieved by the police looking up the reg plate etc. Statistics state that 82% of all stolen cars are returned at some point.

Potato chips may not be as valuable, but they are less likely to send you to jail also.

My mother once had her car stolen in Boston when she lived there and it was found later that day about half a mile away. The cops said the crook probably chickened out and just ran for it after realizing what they had done. My dad had his car broken in to with the stereo system stolen as well as some of cassette collection. His favorite ones were still there...he felt insulted.

Hopefully the gift card was for a bus pass...

Looks like you won't be covering any closing shifts anytime soon.

Why wouldn't OP do that? A car can be stolen at anytime at the day and night not just on closing hours.

He might not be able to cover any shifts, if he can't find a ride.

You made 2 people's day better. The person you covered for and the person you have a free car to. Your such a nice person :)

wow,it's the wonderest answer for him

I'm sorry but it shouldn't be 'covered'. Rather, it should be 'cover'. I shall dig myself a trench to protect myself from the artillery shells now.

For some reason i read it as "cat" not "car"

Why yes.... No good deed goes unpunished. Thus, some asshole stole OP's cat!

You can still feel good about what you did.
