Today, I decided to try LSD with a few friends in a safe environment. As an artist, I had planned to spend my trip doing psychedelic paintings and had all my supplies set up. Apparently I spent most of my time in fetal position muttering about the "evil easel" and never even touched my canvas. FML

oldshitnewshit tells us more.

Looking at the comments I see we've got some seriously mixed opinions about me. So, first off: Hi, I'm Juniper, I'm 23 and I'm in art school in the US. I have never tried LSD or any other kind of "hardcore" drug before this. My friend had some tabs that he had used before and asked me if I wanted to try it. I agreed, only after doing extensive research, and determining that the risk was one I was willing to take. During that research, I stumbled across some beautiful works of people who had done art under the influence and thought perhaps I could have some fun trying that as well. I'm an art student and always open to new things. My parents were also hardcore hippies back in the day, and they've told me about their psychedelic experiences. I knew my risks. I have no plans to take LSD again, although I'm not currently suffering any adverse effects aside from water tasting kinda metallic for the next 24 hours (this took place about a week ago.) And the FML is actually not entirely true, but exaggerated for comedic effect. The paranoia and muttering did not last the entire time, only about 15-30 minutes. My entire trip lasted about 9-10 hours. One of my friends decided to remove the easel when she saw that it was making me upset. I think its large, angled presence in the room was off-putting. I actually spent the majority of my time having a good trip, my friends took great care of me. And despite not touching my canvas, I made some radical drawings. I did my research, I knew my risks, I set myself up responsibly. I'm not looking for sympathy or support– I just thought I'd share my kinda funny story. Those of you who are calling me an idiot are entitled to your opinions, but you're not insulting a wall. I'm a human being that makes choices for myself. Those of you who abstain from drugs, you should be proud! That's wonderful and healthy, but please allow and do not judge me for my own choices. My experimental phase is not harmful or offensive to you. And to my fellow art junkies: I wasn't expecting to create a masterpiece, this was for fun. I'm a learning artist!

Drugs are harmful for you regardless of how 'safe' the environment is perceived to be.

Apparently it wasn't a very safe environment if even your easel is evil.

Pretty sure you can't predict what's going to happen when you take a hallucinogen, hence some people have 'bad trips' - they obviously don't plan for them. And if you're so uninspired you can't create anything without being high, you should probably consider another career.

My immediate reaction after seeing "LSD" was to read no further, and instead check to see how much higher the YDI was.

What degree of dumb are you trying to reach here? You are going to try LSD to paint in a psychedelic sort of manner? If it takes drugs like that for you to try to paint... time for a career change... immediately.

I read half of the first sentence an automatically hit the YDI button. Drugs aren't cool bro.

You should PROBABLY consider not living anymore, then. I mean, your body produces things tryptamine(parent chemical class of LSD, psilocybin, DMT, etc), serotonin, adrenaline, anandamide(endo-cannabinoid, y'know, it works a lot like THC), and SPEAKING OF DMT, holy crap that's produced by your body, as well. All of these people without the slightest education in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, psychology, etc. should really keep their mouths shut. And yes, I actually have a background in all of these areas(I'm a chemistry and psychology major, which both require biology studies, and I spend my free time studying for my pharmacy exam)

people are so narrow minded. why is lsd illegal? because someone says its bad.. but the american government used it on its own people for experiments. more people die from smoking and alcohol then psychedelics. look at dmt our body naturally produces it but yet we are peopkle cant use the drug..... drugs are bad and illegal because the government cant tax it simple.

LSD is bad because it permanently damages your brain when you even try it once plus some people do crazy things when on it like ripping off there own skin

smoking gives you cancer... alcohol people drink and drive and kill people all the time. government lets stores sell that to us.. ive done acid a hand full of times and loved it and am still in poccession of my skin....

LSD Acid and Shrooms arent addictive and in very few cases people do crazy shit. youre thinking of someone ripping their skin off while on PCP

LSD can go either way, you've a 50/50 chance of it going good or bad and most stories I've heard are of bad trips. Maybe try shrooms? Or E's? Smoke enough weed or make sure you get some really good shit? (I've NEVER tripped when smoking weed so I'm skeptical of this)..... Opium? DMT? There's a few other things you can try for seeing what mad art you come up with when tripping, but next time you try LSD make sure you are in a 100% positive mindset as your trips are influenced by your emotions and how you've been feeling recently.

'Drugs are stupid.' Well, I certainly admire your pain tolerance, having never been administered pain meds! I also feel bad for your no-chocolate diet.

how are they an idiot #102? All of those things they described are considered "drugs"

And a no caffeine diet, ye gods, how do you do it?

why di people trot out the same tired excuse whenever someone challanges their hars drug habit. you know what its your choice if you want to take them but at least be honest about why. it is not the same as chocolate or caffine but mucj the same as alochol and cigs they are taken to look cool. takinglad does not make you a more enlightened individual it makes you a person who wants to take a mind altering substance. you are no better or worse than those of us who dont want to take it.

Yes it is your not allowed to work for the government if you even try it once for that reason because the effects can come back at any moment in your life.

Drugs are bad don't kill yourself with them.
