I'm willing to bet that most, if not all, of the recommendations to sue are from Americans. If you modeled for the picture, you probably signed a release allowing the photographer or company to do what they want with the picture.

You didn't know this? Did you sell your pics to a stock-photography website? This sounds fishy because they would have to use the same face for the after picture... A thinner version of it of course....

Isn't that illegal?? Sorry I'm not really that knowledgeable in legal issues, but I'm pretty sure taking your picture without consent and using it in an advertisement is not... legal. Sue!
