Today, I discovered that when my mom can't sleep, she comes into my room and reads my text messages. FML

I do have a password! She makes me give it to her. Now I know why.. And to those asking I found out by waking up to her next to me on my phone, then quickly running out of my room

I hope you had a long talk...Talk about invasion of privacy.

Sounds like you two need to have a serious talk about privacy. and it might be a good idea to put a password on your phone for in the future

I totally agree. If op was 12-16 then her mother has the right to check her phone from time to time. I mean she probably pays the bills. Children should understand that there parents are there to protect them and have the right to go threw there phone and stuff.

Well, never consider being a writer then, if you messages seem to be a remedy for insomnia.

Make a txt that implies ur a drug dealer or somthin. Itll be funny af to c her reaction.

Just because this FML is about texting doesn't mean you have to comment like you're using t9

That's a horrible idea. But it is a great way to get her parents to never trust her again and get her grounded forever. :)

Considering you still live in her house and are underage (I'm assuming). You don't really have a right to privacy.

You need a password, and your mother needs a book.

At least she didn't look at your search history. See, it wasn't that bad after all.

I don't. I trust my surroundings to keep their fingers to themselves and if it happens, I'll just sit by and answer any question that comes up. I don't have anything to hide and I'm cool with the stuff on my phone. It's annoying to me having to unlock it all the time, so I'd rather risk it and not use a password. However at work, when charging it, I will leave it on the table, fully visible and locked because I don't trust my co-workers enough yet.

I don't. 90% of the time my phone is dead. The rest of the time it's either charging in my room or on my person. But I don't use my phone.

I'm on the fence about it. Yes, you should be able to trust your kid but sometimes you can't and will need to monitor them. For instance, my sister (she's 13) was suspended from her school for bullying another student through text messages. When my mom went through her texts to see if that was true, she found nude pics being exchanged between my sister and some guy who follows her on instagram. Now my mom can't trust her with her phone because of this.
