Today, I discovered the source of the vile stench in my room. My daughter had "saved" a bird from our cat and put it in a box under my bed, hoping to nurse it back to health. She forgot about it, leaving the corpse rotting in there for who knows how long. FML

R.I.P to all forgotten birds left to rot underneath beds

I just hope the bird was already dead when your daughter "saved it" from the cat so it didn't have to die slowly and painfully under the bed!

30- Rude! She was trying to be funny, although it wasn't all too funny.

Tell your daughter the bird would have died a quick death by the cat instead of the days of suffering it endured under her care. That'll fix the negligent little shit.

@15 sure Perdix traumatize the little girl even more with that response. *smh*

#1, yes, the thought to save it was sweet, but forgetting the bird and letting it die a slow, excruciating death was pretty douchey.

Reminds me of the family guy episode where Brian gives Lois a dead bird as a present. Lol. Just throw it out and clean it up. Your daughter has a good heart.

Or when he kept a pony in the closet for Meg. "Oh, ponies like food, don't they?"

"I'll have what she's having!" What no? Ok then "you've just been revoked!"

Poor bird! It was nice of your daughter to try to save it, but the fact that she forgot about it is pretty sad.

OP's daughter was tweet to try to save the bird. Too bad she forgot the follow up appointment.

If ops kid is under 6 id recommend saying you found it and luckily took it to the vet, no good will come of making them feel like a bird killer! explain how the bird 'could have' died had u not found it! My guess is the bird was pretty well dead or the parents would have heard it under the bed. My 3 year old found an injured bird a few days back and I told her to put that toy back on the neighbours garage sale table. Luckily she said it wasnt a toy!!

Your daughter is either 5 years old or she is just stupid.

Poor bird omg :( reading stories like this really breaks my heart! My prayers go out to that bird!

i bet you probably say that after everything bad. like when you cut someone off on the highway..." my prayers go out to you" or you run over a squirrel... " my prayers go out to you" then off to the next tragedy.

Is there anything wrong with her saying that to any tragedy she comes across? Jeez, if that's her way of expressing her emotions, let it be.
