Today, I donated blood. Afterwards, I regained consciousness on the floor with a half-eaten cookie in my mouth. FML

Wow. This was my FML. It was my first time giving blood. I'd tried once before but my hemoglobin was too low. So I made sure to eat lots of iron rich foods the weeks before and was fine this time. Everything went really well. But when I got settled at the table with the snacks where they make you wait for 15 minutes I started to feel a bit dizzy. I fainted then. I'd been in the middle of eating my cookie, so it wasn't that odd. The wonderful people there caught me and lowered me to the floor, and I was only out for about 20 seconds. When I woke I was just really confused, and all I could really coherently think was "I have a half chewed cookie in my mouth," and I couldn't figure out how to swallow. They gave me juice and ice and I went back to my dorm to lay down until class. I think it actually went really well, and I'm excited to give blood in the future. I'll just have a larger breakfast and stay laying down for longer.

I totally pictured you walking with a cookie in your mouth, minding your business and suddenly fainting.

The vampires should know that you can't drain a person completely.

happened to me before at a school blood drive. I had the luck of being the lady's first patient. It was bloody terrifying..and I didn't get a cookie. needless to say, I also will never donate again.

Please don't let ONE bad experience ruin it forever. Giving blood is a very good thing to do, and honestly, it doesn't hurt that much, even if the phleb isn't the best at it.

I've donated before. Im just not donating through the school anymore. I'll still donate elsewhere though

Don't feel bad OP, I've helped at blood drives before and it's common. I have vasovagil syncope and faint even after a normal blood test. After the first few times you learn to get over the embarrassment

Well you did better than most people would.

Aw... I'm sorry you passed out, but hey, good for you! You donated blood today! You helped to save someone's life!

The cookie I find a bit odd...overtime you will be fine maybe a bit lightheaded but you shouldn't pass out as easy...

Uh...No...nothing strange about it, They give you a cookie and juice or something similar after donating to stabilize your blood sugar, because passing out after giving blood is fairly common. Tons of people pass out due to reasons far stranger than donating blood.

They normally give you a cookie to regain your strength after giving blood. Helps your sugar levels. Or sometimes even give orange juice.

I got both cookies and orange juice, because after fainting I couldn't figure out how to chew at first.

Oh okay nice to know I was just confused thanks for replying
