Today, I donated to a charity website. My card was repeatedly refused by the website but when I went on my account, I was charged for each time I tried. I was scammed by a charity. FML

I hope they really use that money for charity.

I wouldn't be convinced they are a charity.

It's possible it was some kind of glitch. I've had something similar happen to me, though I was swiping my card in person. Unfortunately, there are scams disguised as a charity. You can always check the background of most major charities via charitywatch.org or the BBB's Wise Giving Alliance.

There is software in place to prevent this happening, unfortunately it didn't help you. Call your bank and they will cancel the payments hopefully.

That's why I don't deal with charity shit ever.

Report this to your credit card company and they may let you cancel the charges

there are straight up scams that do this exact thing.

That's why you never donate over the Internet. If you use your credit card scammers and identity thiefs can waste your money and you'll be screwed over the moon. So I hope you think twice next time. Ik it must suck but YDI.

It's most likely authorization holds. Check your bank again in a few days.

You gotta vet those charity sites before donating anything OP. There are a lot of scams out there
