Today, I drove to school and arrived early to find a parking spot. I found one close to the school, checked the signs, and thought, "Street cleaning is Wednesday. It's okay to park here since it's Tuesday." Being thrown off a day by Labor Day on Monday, I came back to a ticket on my windshield. FML

Thanks for all the sympathies. This is my first FML to get published so I'm super happy. It's my first week back at school in four years. I received my bachelors and started working full time. I've had the luxury of parking in a parking lot all this time. I actually live in New York City so street parking is extremely difficult to find. I should have known better when I saw such a close spot to the school. #17 is completely correct. I was so convinced that it was Tuesday that I didn't even think to double check the date but I've learned my lesson now. I'm going to suck it up and pay it. I'm shaking my own head because it's such a silly reason to get a ticket.

I'm sorry about your luck, OP. However, for future reference, I'd avoid parking in certain areas altogether. Never take a chance for its better to be safe than sorry.

It tells you on your phone what day it is

Yesterday I was completely convinced it was Friday, so I called my grandma (with my cellphone) to congratulate her on her birthday. If you're convinced of a date, your brain could just fart out on you and tell you that it says 'Friday' on your screen, even if it really doesn't. OP just had a brainfart, happens to the best of us.

It should be okay to park there as it is...no signs...nothing to reveal that you can't park there...you should be able to fight it Unless I don't follow

It says "checked the signs" in the FML. Generally that means there were signs.

This would be one of those situations where it's appropriate to press both buttons. Happens to the best of us but you only have yourself to blame.

It wouldn't hurt to try and explain what happened to the security department. Maybe they'll sympathize with you!

Unless OP marks off the days, a calendar isn't going to do squat if they forget what day it is, especially if they don't tend to carry one in the car.

Well, sometimes phones have a calendar and date on them so if OP marks the date on the calendar on their phone then they'd have access to what day it is.

wouldn't that make them clean it a day later as well?

Nope. Trash service moves forward a day, but street sweepers just don't run on the holidays. Where I live, they don't run on Mondays at all.
