Today, I entered a painting I'd worked on for weeks into an art competition. I won nothing. I wouldn't care so much if the guy I lost out to hadn't submitted a blank canvas and called it a "conceptual piece". FML

Hey, OP here. I just thought that you guys might be interested in knowing that the contest was actually rigged. One of the judges and the winner were in cahoots, and they halved the prize money. They were found out and had to return the money. I still wasn't ranked high enough to win though, but at least now I lost to someone who submitted actual art.

Art always confused me. You have great artists winning nothing and not having their work known, while other artists draw nothing but a blue line and sells it for millions.

You can always start again with a blank slate

I kinda hope the judges were paid off. Either way they shouldn't be allowed to be judges anymore.

Shows like that are often unfair. I show in 4H(in case you don't know what that is it is livestock like goats and horses). A lot of the time the judges don't respect the work put into the project, whether it be an animal or painting. Either way, the a lot of the winners are undeserving of it.

hey glad to see another showman on here! I agree on the judges not respecting real hard work. There are politics in all of it be it art or livestock or writing. The people with connections generally do better

That's what mindless people call it a great art

This is exactly why I hate modern art.

It's like those artists that just splatter paint on a canvas. "Real art"

Get a red piece of construction paper and frame it. If art B.S's you, B.S. Art

Art. Next time, submit a BMW lank canvis and make up some be about how it represents the human soul or how society/media leaves us when they have their way with the human race.

A BMW *totally* would represent my soul.

Mine would be more closely represented by a 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS
