Today, I facebooked my friends about my upcoming birthday party, and told them to keep the date free. I got several responses telling me that's not possible, because that's the day the new Harry Potter movie comes out. FML

Today, it's been weeks since I made a Facebook page to arrange something for my birthday as no one was able to attend last year on short notice. Everyone was game but now everyone is flaking. One friend even said, "I'll see who RSVPs and then decide." FML

Today, the last person I invited to my birthday party called and said they couldn't come because another party "came up" and they "hope I understand". It's on December 31st. This happens every year without fail. FML

Today, I'm having my housewarming party and had prepared food, drink, and games for all the 19 confirmed guests on Facebook. I waited till 11, but nobody showed up. I checked Facebook again and realized I had accidentally put tomorrow as the party date. I have to work the whole day tomorrow. FML

very simply, HP > your birthday... hell, Jesus could come down and throw a party on P. Diddy's yacht, and if its on an HP opening day, guess which one im going to? idk, maybe its just because i've been a harry potter fan for almost 12 years... it was the very first chapter book i ever read, so ive been waiting for the movies for a loooong time

A similar thing happened to me a couple years ago. Except it was one of the books coming out and it was like a midnight costume party or something that my two best friends chose over going out to dinner with me. I didn't like Harry Potter to begin with and that made me like it even less.

Wtf. You seriously need new friends. Why in the hell does everyone think they have to see movies on the very first day they come out? It's like they don't realize that the movie will be playing for more than one day. Seriously, if your friends care more about a ******* Harry Potter movie than your birthday, they don't deserve to be your friends. Send messages to all the ones who told you they couldn't come because of HP that they are no longer invited to your party and you hope they enjoy the movie. **** them.

Laugh out loud. It's not like the movie is gonna last all day! On the bright side, at least they didn't make up some BS excuse for why they won't go; They were kind (or douche-y...) enough to give you a legitimate, albeit insensitive one. Happy birthday, eh? ;)
