this happens to me in forensics alllll the time :/
I know exactly how you feel. Happens to me ALL the time!
Ummm...this happens a lot. If you're learning about giving an oral speech in a real-world type of event, people are not always going to be looking at you. The trick is to look down more w/ your eyes and less w/ your head. You also have to learn to grab as much as you can quickly when you look down, and then look up and say what you read. When you first do this, you will only be able to grab about 2 or 3 words and it will sound really bad. But you need to practice this in front of a mirror. This is one of the fundamentals you have to learn before you can get good at giving a speech. There are also a lot of vocal exercises you can use to warm up your voice, so that your voice does not become monotone and you lose interest of your audience.
I know that feel, bro.
You should be making eye contact with the audience.
