"Oral speech"? what other kinds of speech are there? You could have done it in sign language? Then you would have had problems if the teacher kept looking down. But seriously, that sucks. I've had the same thing happen to me.

Well this is why i don't bring a lot of notes for a presentation and really how often do you need to look down, maybe you should just have improved a bit and then just keep staring at that teacher till eye contact was achieved.

Well, I call bullshit. As someone who has been in that very position, I can't imagine not making eye contact with the audience for at least 90% of the time. If you weren't, you were showing bad public speaking skills. As well, wouldn't you at least make sure that your teacherprofessor sees you, you know, glance at them during the duration of your speech? Common knowledge, my friend.

If you looked up for an appropriate amount of time this would have never happened. You should never more than make a quick glance down for a second at a time while giving a speech.

Ahh. I hate it when that happens. Specially with my speech teacher. It's so annoying. But it's good when other students tell them that you did look up. So when she says I didn't I say "MM, I'ma let you finish, but lemme ask a quick one, (then i look at a random person and ask) did I look up?OR nOT?" && sometimes they'll screw me over, but others they'll be honest :)
