Today, I figured out why the man I've been seeing for 3 years hasn't asked for my hand in marriage. His current wife called me and told me all about it. FML

Has anyone else thought that maybe the man and his wife had been separated during that time? These things do happen. A lot of couple separate for an extended time before spending the money on a divorce. Not justifying what he did by any means, but he may not have even been with his wife while seeing OP. A lot of people try to start new relationships during a separation from a spouse. Once again, this doesn't make what the dude did right. After being with OP for a few months, I would think the truth should have been revealed.

#51 yeah, i agree with you. They may have separated in that time, but he still should have mentioned that he was legally married to someone else. Honesty is the best policy... And he is being a deceptive liar.

Oh yeah, like I said, there's no excuse for what he did. But "wife" is a legal term, they may not have been actively having a relationship. It's actually pretty common for people to move on before a divorce is final. However, most divorces don't take three years to finalize. Sounds like dude is hanging onto the past. Or he's a cheating asshole.
