Today, I filled out an online application for a internship. I didn't have all the info I need to complete it, but it wouldn't let me leave anything blank so to move along I filled in crap answers. I pressed "Save". It sent my draft in. I now have to explain that "Jesus" isn't actually my reference. FML

YDI op... Why didn't you just put N/A in for some answers?

Is there a more credible reference than a guy who may or may not have existed a few thousand years ago?

YDI.. and don't worry. they won't be calling you.

What did you enter for his contact info?

He wasn't expecting it to be sent in; he was filling in the blanks so he could save it as a draft and fill it out properly later.

While OP may not have meant to send in the application, the safe (and not to mention smart) thing to do would have been to just put something like N/A rather than "crap answers" that sound ridiculous. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if any online application, when saved, is still viewable to the employer, even if it's not officially submitted. The YDI comes in when he fills out stupid joke answers on a professional application, not when he accidentally submits it.

Thats your own fault, OP. Ever heard of proof reading?

I think you completely misunderstood the post. This has nothing to do with proof-reading. OP filled in the blanks with nonsense answers on purpose to be able to save the document so he could later fill in the blanks as needed, but he didn't know pressing the 'save' also automatically submits said form without confirmation.

Exactly what I was saying too. A lot of people are going "YDI" on this, but this isn't a really rare occasion. I've seen plenty of application forms which ask for information you may not have handy, because you didn't expect a question like that. The nice thing of online forms (normally though, apparently not in this case) is you can save a draft to fill the rest in later. It's the digital age, this should be normal.
