Today, I finally got a Wii Fit to try and lose some weight. I came home and set it all up, only to be told that I weigh too much to actually use it. FML

I'm the OP, decided to make an account... Reason I put on so much weight is cause I had a car run up my leg by a 16 year old bitch who was too busy chatting on her phone to even notice she hit me. So after my broken foot, ankle, and leg "healed", I got to go through the process of starting rehab on all the torn stuff in my ankle. 18 months later, I can walk again with only a slight limp. Yay! Believe me, I'd love to be able to go out for a walk or hit the gym but some days (rainy days especally) going from bed to the bathroom is a chore and any kind of incline or decline hurts still. And I didn't know I was over 330 when I got to the store (got a scale too, 334... what a bitch, huh?) so that was a huge shock. Obviously I know I was overweight, but not this bad. Thanks to like the 10 people with kind words... the rest of you enjoy your summer, high school starts back up in about 8 weeks.

Wii Fit is not something made to help you lose weight, it's made to help you STAY in shape or tone up. If you weigh too much to use it you need a personal trainer not a video game. I'll take it if you aren't using it though. It's been raining here for weeks I could use an indoor tone up :D

Then just loose those 4 lbs and you're set! I used my Wii Fit to get a little in shape, and when I thought I was ready for more, went to the gym. After some time in the gym, I tried swimming. And after some time swimming, I'm dancing. This way it isn't so hard to get used to exercise, and also you don't get too tired. Oh, and Wii Fit it's great to use while you watch tv! PS: Hope it helps you! Good luck!

I'm a PT and have used the Wii Fit and would like to point out that more than 90% of these replies are made by unintelligent, ignorant asses. My view on the Wii Fit is that it's amusing but not the best way to lose weight, especially the large numbers you're looking for. The balance board isn't that great, it added over 6 pounds to my weight, which isn't something you can overlook by saying "scales vary." I will say it's good at showing you basic movements and pretty decent at making sure your doing them correctly. In the long run, though, people need to change up the workout with weights or balance or it becomes repetitive motion and nothing more. You could try to run the exercise previews to see what they are and doing them without the board. While I haven't used it, the Wii Active is getting great reviews among trainers and doesn't require the balance board. But given your rehab issues, it really isn't a good idea to try anything without seeing a certified trainer, and even then, they'll want a detailed medical history if not doctor's approval before they can give a helpful work-out plan for you. I will recommend making a food log, not counting calories, but writing down exactly what you eat and when. You would be really surprised on how much that helps because a lot of my clients have no idea on how much or what their really eating in a day. Plus looking at it you can find healthy substitutes. Eating 3-5 small meals and snacks will keep you full throughout the day so when dinner comes you wont over-eat, like so many Americans have now been raised to do. I'd also suggest getting "Eat This, Not That: Supermarket Addition," it explains exactly why foods are good for you and gives you alternatives for everyday foods. Plus it explains how to read food labels, and that calorie numbers aren't the most important thing to consider (Reduced Fat may be less calories but 99.9% of the time the way their made actually makes them worse than the regular food). I understand that walking is still difficult, but any physical activity is better than nothing. Biking is your best bet for low-impact, swimming wont bother it at all, and even walking laps in a pool will take the pressure off of your leg. I get that the gym/trainer probably isn't an option for you right now (I know my pay compared to what people are paying to see me), but at this point it's probably your best bet. I've worked with clients with all sorts of backgrounds, weights, and injuries and we're trained to know how to work all your muscles out so you can lose the weight without making pre-existing conditions worse. Hope that helps.

Thank you for posting your story. Like I said earlier, we have a bunch of self-righteous ASSHOLES rampant in the comments sections of this site! You should all really be embarrassed for yourselves, and your parents - no matter what their age or yours - should be ashamed of the type of insensitive ***** and pricks they raised. **** all your lives for what you've said here today about this person!!!

Your hurt ankle doesn't control how much you eat everyday. Your ankle is no excuse for how fat you have gotten.I'll try to help you. Eat less junk and more vegetables and fruit. Also drink more water and less everything else. Exercises that do not hurt your ankles are like Push ups, Sit ups, Bicycle kicks, Leg lifts like when you lift and hold your feet 6 inches of the ground. I don't know what you can do with your legs since your ankle is so hurt. Return the Wii Fit if you can and do regular exercise and eat right like a regular person. And my previous comment just above this is to Skullbasher not the OP

@ LoveMachine101 (heh) - Thanks for clarifying that. When cruel assholes like you jump on here to make your snotty little comments it's really hard to tell who you are talking to. And yes, people are here on FML trying to "look good". You're an idiot! Now that you are done reading this, go ahead and stick your head back up your ass...

#242 - Wow, the sophistication emanating from you is overwhelming...you don't play Halo by any chance, do you? You sound exactly like the 85% of them on XBL whose entire vocabulary consists of vulgarity and slurs upon one's sexuality.

Good on you for making the steps to start to loose weight. **** the people who are putting you down. it doesn't matter HOW you put on weight... it matters that you care. I'm at 270, I was almost 300 when I realized it was time to start my weight loss journey. Try a nice simple exercise video to get down to where wii fit will let you, because wii fit is FUN! and wii in general helped me lose weight (I made a vow to use my whole body. That way any time I played games I played like a little kid... and it made exercising fun.

Good luck on your weight loss, I just recently lost about 35 pounds. It feels really good. Slow progress is better than no progress. Also I wasn't aware that the WiiFit had a weight limit.

I lost weight more from eating right than working out. 50lbs in six months.

OMG you suck dude!!! how much do you weight??? LOL why don't you do some real excercise you FATASS???

I've never seen a comment that drains my faith in humanity more than this one.

WTF?????? u weigh more than 330 lbs??????? (150 kg)?????????????????????????

So? Start running, join a gym, don't eat so much, etc. Someday you'll weigh less than what it says on the box (which you should have checked beforehand, by the way) and you can use it at that time.

ydi for using wii fit to loose weight, hit the gym chubby cakes

They should raise the limit to 400 to get even more sales.
