Today, I finally told my father that I was picked on at college all this year over my hearing disability. When I told him one of the jokes they made about me, he burst out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. FML

Sometimes you just got to laugh it off. Don't let all the bulling define who you are. If you show it doesn't hurt you, they will stop.

Why do people have to bully someone for something they can't help having?

Must have been some hilarious jokes. Do tell

And that sir is your que to get a thicker skin and move on. lol

As a deaf person, I totally understand how you feel. It does suck. I find that finding a funny meaning to the joke usually works for me and laughing at the jokes tells them I don't give a f**k what they say. Could work for you too.

Omg I wish I knew who you are!!! I am hearing impaired too and I don't know anyone hearing impaired like me.. I have been made fun of as well..but you know what I do? I take it as an excuse to succeed and show them that I am just as good as them if not, better!!:) that is why I am in band and take a foreign language. this was my first semester in college and it was rough. I was made fun of for having an fm transmitter to help me hear my teachers. It's ok, just keep your head up!!!!!!!!!:)

Obviously, your dad is just as much a prick as those losers at your college are...don't let it get to you. Good Luck in your studies!

That's the problem with (most) American's and American schools, no-one ever learns a little thing called, 'tolerance'

In the end OP, you're stronger than they are. If they're really bullying you, they never really were strong-minded in the first place. Not that many people can say they're hearing impaired. It's hard, and people can judge so easily. Chin up, OP. You've made it this far. :)

Which college are you at that accepts 5th graders as students? Some people never grow up...
