Today, I finally told my father that I was picked on at college all this year over my hearing disability. When I told him one of the jokes they made about me, he burst out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. FML

Sometimes you just got to laugh it off. Don't let all the bulling define who you are. If you show it doesn't hurt you, they will stop.

If you live in America, you should be protected from that shit. If it's the same people doing it all the time, tell someone. There should be people at your college, counsellors or the like, who can help you deal with this kind of issue and get it to stop. If you don't know who to talk to, I'm sure even just the people working the billing and scheduling office should be able to tell you who to go to for help regarding discriminatory behavior toward your disability. And if it's not the same people all the time, I suggest learning some extremely cruel all-purpose jokes to just whip out at people. Maybe, "I may be heard of hearing but at least I have a ******* soul and don't harass people over something they aren't in control of."

Yeah, that's good and all, but there is a huge gap between 'should' and reality...

Would it be asking too much if I wanted to hear it?

Just remember: Your imperfections and perfections make up you. Be who you are. If people wanna pick on you for something you can't control then shows how inconsiderate they are. People with disabilities get picked on the most, which isn't fair, but just defend yourself. Defend yourself and don't back down. You may get in trouble, you may not, but either way you DONT just sit there and take it.

You are gonna go places in life and they will be working at dead end jobs.

Wow. This just proves how bad parents are getting these days. Op, I have a friend that is in the EXACT situation that you are in, and she doesn't get treated like your douche of a father. Fyl, indeed. :(

I know how you feel. You are going places,in life and you'll do great things.
