Today, I finished a drawing that I spent over 14 hours working on for my mom for Mother's Day. I took it outside to seal it with fixative. I took of the clear lid, shook the can, then sprayed red spray paint all over my art. FML

Always check the label on the can before spraying!

That sucks. Probably the OP didn't check the label because 14 hours of doing anything will make you a little disoriented... Coffee FTW.

thats the most horrible thing i've read O.O just because i know what its like to spray the wrong thing on a drawing

how on earth did you manage to confuse red spray paint with clear sealer??????? THE LID IS THE COLOR OF WHAT IT SPRAYS DUMBASS!!!!!!!

upon re-reading your post i apologize for the dumbass comment cause you did say the lid was clear but really what spray paint company out there actually uses JUST clear lids. it just doesn't happen, they're color coded to the paint to avoid that mistake..........the only way this is for real is if someone switched the lid at the store in which case you should still read things which you obviously didn't cause it also tells you to shake the can well then spray away from anything just into the air until you can see the mist of color coming out well mixed then to proceed to paint. good prank whoever got you though

Hey, I know this is kind of late, but why don't you try gently sanding the layer of red paint off? You might actually manage to remove a layer and show the colors underneath. Hope this helps...

You fail majorly 8p go furself

Actually, yes, the OP is at fault for not making sure of whether it was really fixative in the can, but it's also the fault of whoever used it last and SWITCHED AROUND THE DAMNED CAPS.

YDI. it seems common sense that you would spray a little first to clear the nozzle just incase.
