Today, I found an empty parking space in a crowded parking lot. When I came back later, a lady and a cop were standing by my car. Her car used to be parked there and got stolen. They think I'm involved. FML

"Hey buddy, I'll help you steal this car so I can park there."

Knowing the justice system, good luck OP

Having been a police officer for a very long time I find this story highly implausible. Being asked a few questions does not mean they think you are involved. I'm relatively certain that this is a miscommunication or you were dealing with a total idiot. Or perhaps a mall security guard.

Section 11(d) of the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms states that the accused is always presumed innocent until proven guilty... I'm hoping the police officer believes that maxim

OP is from the United States, in case you hadn't noticed.

It pretty much says the same thing in different words in the USA.

There's no such thing as innocent until proven guilty here in the States. It's all a sham. Society still labels you a criminal even if your case gets dismissed for lack of evidence.

48- yes, society does, but not the courts. I've got a lawyer mom, and she always pushes that down my throat. Especially when I'm in trouble and she wants to prove me guilty. ANYWAYS! Casey Anthony was proven innocent. The majority of the country still hates her, but that's unfair. I'm sure lawyers and judges are more educated, and can probably go more in depth. But not all of society is bad.

I actually can't believe there's an 18 you deserve it , I mean why would anyone deserve that ? plus , stop trolling to get badges , it isn't that important , it's only a picture that you can download and and use it as wallpaper so that you can be satisfied

I hope there's cameras or something that can prove your innocence. The cops should know that if you commit a crime, you wont want to leave something directly connected to you at the crime scene.

Any halfway decent cop will outright assume you would be smart enough to not park your car into the spot a car you had just stolen had been parked. You should be fine. The lady was just hysterical.

Some people need to stop eating stupid for breakfast in the mornings before going to work... It will make their jobs easier. Sounds like being a consumer at a busy shopping mall was just too hard for either of them to imagine. " Only in America" I mean FYL

OP there are street cameras! Tell the police to check it out to see that you had nothing to do with it. Good luck!

You should've known better than to park in the only open space at a busy parking lot. Smells fishy a mile away
