Today, I found my diamond earring, which had gone missing. The vet had to surgically remove it from my dog. Despite having made the voyage through the dog's digestive tract, the earring is more expensive than ever. FML

Hey, look on the bright side, you got your ring back AND your dog is still alive.

I'm pretty sure OP meant like more valued. Jewelry is known to be shinier when it comes out of a dog's stomach because the acids in the dog's stomach clean out any imperfection.

Because they had to pay for the surgery to retrieve it.

@13, yeah what 21 says. I had to have a suspicious lump on my cat checked out... it cost me 300-*******-Euro's. I paid it without question out of love of course, but you can imagine the cost of an all-out surgery. The surgery on OP's dog cost more than the diamond earrings probably.

Plz, tell me your not wherein them now. Grrrooossss

Actually it's cleaner than ever, the acid in dogs stomachs clean it.

Let me guess the removal costed more that it was worth...I guess there is a point of now nature taking it's course would get it...

I wonder if it was a lab...those dogs will eat anything.

My parents lab is a little kleptomaniac. He will literally snatch anything up that drops.

My lab, when he was a pup, grabbed a black sharpie and chewed it up. He then thought it was a great idea to step in the ink and walk all over the wooden floors in our living room. As they grow up you learn they can eat anything it seems (mine loved to eat bees that flew by his face).

Ha! Well, I'm glad the dog and the ring both came out unscathed.

Lol I have a black lab and she will literally eat anything, and she's 14 years old. They have stomachs of steel

Probably because of the steel they are eating

Atleast the dog is fine & so are your earrings :).

Get a dog. Lose an earring. No big deal till your dog eats something more important and you loose that thing and your dogs life.

Poor pup! And poor OP, now you're gonna think of poo every time you wear those earrings lol

Reminds me of Marley and Me when Marley eats a gold necklace, and his owner bravely searches his poop for said necklace. Also, in Marley and Me, when Grogan receives emails of condolence after the dog's death, one of the emails tells a very funny story of a Lab who was a huge food thief. His owner placed a chocolate dessert ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE, and the dog pulled out the drawers of the dresser next to the fridge, climbed them like stairs and ate the chocolate. Labs like to munch.
