Today, I found out my dog is allergic to all forms of animal. His new vegetarian food is $90 a bag, and he refuses to eat it. FML

Today, I splurged thousands of dollars on the breed of dog that I've loved since I was a kid from a reputable breeder. He is allergic to all food except the 24lb food for $70 and has sensitivities galore, including a seizure from a shot. I've spent $5,000 in vet bills in the first week. FML

Today, I took my dog to the vet because he hadn't eaten his food in three days, was drinking a lot of water, and was peeing a lot (all signs of antifreeze poisoning). I spent $200 at the vet to tell me that my dog is fine and just didn't like his current food. FML

Today, I was flipping through a magazine and saw an ad that had the line "No corn, no wheat, no soy", all of which I'm severely allergic to. I got so excited at the prospect of having a food I could eat, I fell out of my chair. I then realized it was an ad for dog food. FML

Today, I took my dog back to the vet because her face was completely swollen and her stomach was bright red and blotchy. It's obviously the medication she just started, but my vet doesn't believe dogs have allergic reactions. It's the only vet in the area. FML

Today, I've been on the verge of throwing up all day. Why? My dog is intolerant to grain, but grain-free dog food causes heart problems so she can't have that. Now our lives are filled with nasty farts and Hershey squirts with no end in sight. It's a rough time for us both. FML

Well, he's gonna eat it if you don't give him a choice in the matter. Just leave a bowl of the food out and refuse to give him anything else until he finishes it. No dog is going to starve himself to death if there's food available.

That sucks, I had a dog like that but we were given kangaroo meat. It works really well, but it would be difficult if your pup is allergic to that too

Try Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein. The protein is broke down so much that the body does not recognize it as protein causing the ability for it not to have an allergic reaction

I'd recommend making your own food mixes. It'll be a little extra work, but probably a lot cheaper and more appealing to your dog.

Try mixing in some pumpkin purée or peanut butter- my dog loves it when I add that stuff in!

Time to start making meals at home, OP! It'll save you TONS of money and you'll have FULL control over giving your buddy proper nutrition and adjustment to his tastes. Good luck! Lots of resources out there for this situation. :)
