Try things like rice and a meat free gravy for a main food and for treats try things like blueberries or watermelon. My dog eats meat, but as a vegan myself, I've tried giving a few alternatives every now and then and she happily eats them. Don't worry, dogs are omnivores, the meat in their diet isn't needed anyway. My cat on the other hand is 100% carnivore of course (with some dairy free treats mixed in, haha).
Are you sure that your dog is allergic to ALL animal forms? Maybe a new vet could point you to some mice dog food, possum dog food or cricket dog food that would be acceptable to your dog. It doesn't have to be all beef, pork, chicken and lamb.

Show it anywayPlease don't ever get a pet.
Don't have children, either. If your immediate go-to solution for having difficulty in caring for another life form is "end its life," you shouldn't be allowed around other living things.
Food allergies can be a real bitch to deal with in pets. Have you ever checked into hydrolyzed protein diet OP? They're made specifically for pets with food allergies. It's not cheap, but many dogs who have protein allergies do well on a form of that diet because the protein is so small the body doesn't recognize it as an allergen and is absorbed more easily. My mastiff is allergic to basically all meats, the only thing I can give her are fruits and vegetables without it making her react. But a hydrolyzed diet has improved her coat, her energy levels, and her unintentional weight loss has been slowed. Might be worth looking into. Good luck OP!
Sounds a lot like my dog. We're on basically the last type of meat possible, kangaroo.
Try sprinkling some shredded cheese on it or mixing in a bit of peanut butter! Look online for healthy snacks for dogs (most are rather cheap) and I'm sure you can find ways to get him into it :D There are quite a few fruit options like apple and watermelon slices that some dogs go nuts for too. My dog doesn't even need special food but is a little butt who won't get excited till I put something special in with his food. :P As long as you keep it healthy and moderate, they won't be unhealthy and they'll be happy to nom.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. How could an animal who eats other animals be allergic to animals? Lmao, especially a canine.. Am I missing something?
inbreeding leads to genetic issues. hence why relatives arent supposed to produce offspring together, besides the ethics factor. The cycle of inbreeding happened throughout generations, affecting one or more offspring. also, dogs are omnivores, not carnivores, so they can live without meats, it's not a necessity as long as they get the needed nutrients
Humans eat other living things, and it's still possible for us to be allergic to things we eat, as well. Why else do you think some people have conditions like lactose intolerance, and some don't? Use your head, child. Just because it's in their natural diet does not mean it's impossible that their body can't handle it.
I wish more people were like you OP. That many people dump their animals in the puns if they have any special needs. I have a cat who can only eat grain free biscuits and seems to be allergic to so many things she needs a lot of medicine and things but I could never part with her. Chin up, maybe try finding some fresh veggies and fruits your pooch will like or looking on the net for home made vegetarian dog food :)
How is that possible? Dogs are carnivores. Have you tried giving him just cooked chicken or something rather than the processed dog food? A lot of times their allergies are derived from the wheat and corn and other junk used to bind the dog food.
They eat meat and veggies. I guess if the vet diagnosed this, then it's possible. Poor little guy...
Dogs are generally considered omnivores, people. They eat meat, fruits, vegetables, and even grains in the wild, people. They do better on high-meat diets, yes, but they can't get everything they need from it. As for how a dog can be allergic to meat- the same way that humans can be allergic to vegetable and fruits even though they're supposed to be the main parts of OUR diets. The body misidentifies the protein as a threat. It happens. Biology is flawed, especially when you include humans breeding litter mates together.

Well, he's gonna eat it if you don't give him a choice in the matter. Just leave a bowl of the food out and refuse to give him anything else until he finishes it. No dog is going to starve himself to death if there's food available.
Maybe try to make him some vegi dog food yourself?
