No, it wasn't too serious for him. He just didn't want to marry you and instead of saying so, he said things were getting too serious. Consider yourself lucky because you didn't marry someone who would later leave you.
That happens. Be happy for the ex and move on. Be happy for your self most of all.
he probaly just did not want to be with you becuase you give horrible ********
So you got a BS break-up excuse. You wouldn't be the first. Take a number and get in line. We will be with you shortly.
So what? he didn't want to be serious with you, but now he's found someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with, so much so, that they're engaged after 5 months at the most. He's moved on, be happy for him, STFU, let him go, stop being a pshyco ect ect ect.
YDI for thinking people tell the truth when they break up.
It's possible that you're the girl he cheated on the other girl with, and that's why he said the relationship was too serious for him.
Men have stalling tactics when it comes to commitments. Women do it too, actually. But in your case, "It's too serious" or if he ever said "I don't believe in marriage", those are serious red flags. He was comfortable in your relationship but he didn't want to end it or take it farther anytime soon. Kind of a depressing fact; most guys want to get married, the real question is do they want to marry *you*? :(

Your ex was using a really cliched excuse, I'm afraid.
He's engaged after five months? Really? Seems a bit quick to me.
