I'm sorry, but that's stupid and a terrible thing to do. How will lowering himself to her level solve anything? It'll just make the situation worse. I think that they should just call it quits and, perhaps, just be friends.

You're only 3 months in. If kids aren't involved you should think about calling it quits. I'm not telling you to divorce, I'm just saying you should think really hard whether you will be able to get past this and still be with her. If you feel like you won't, and it will be with you for the rest of your life, then better to quit now and deal with a few months of misery, rather than a life's worth.
