Being a street performer takes talent. Maybe train and/or find another job that takes talent?

I'm very sorry to hear that, OP. That must be rough. I really feel for you. Now shut the **** up, get an advanced degree, and make something of yourself so you don't have to complain here. In the time it took you to write this FML, you could have applied for college or a masters degree.

Yeah, but check out the upside to your job. You get free bank pens, free foam balls, sometimes even gym bags, you know they make hats, and you have mother effing lollipops when just chilling in your seat waiting for deposits. I know I'd get bored and free style into those mics. Even shoot the deposit box back and forth in the piping. I'd kill to work in a bank.

stop bitching about HAVING a job and be glad you aren't someone that has a degree that does him no good to have because of the bullshit recession and can't find a job at all! you ******* baby! do you eat? have a place to live? then shut the **** up!

So what? How much the street performer makes does not affect you. What kind of street performer? Is a vaudeville or other professional performer? And what are you a teller?

**** you for suggesting that a street performer is less important than your job.

With all due respect, street performers aren't important. Entertainers as a whole do not have important jobs. Making people smile is nice and all, but I would not call it an important profession. Teachers, politicians (scummy, but important), scientists, doctors, nurses, garbage collectors...those are people who make a difference.

Doc, I think you're confusing "important" with "essential". Both are subject to opinion, but an objective argument could be made than entertainers are not essential to the health of the economy and to the support of the basic functions that keep our society orderly. The simple fact is that the vast majority of people in this country have jobs that aren't essential... but we're able to pay them to do non-essential things because we're so goddamn wealthy. A reasonable argument could also be made that these jobs (including those of all entertainers) are "important" simply because this is what people choose to spend their money on. In other words, we "vote" for "importance" by how we, as a society, choose to spend our money. We just have so much that we're forced to spend a lot of it on the non-essentials.

Ferrari, you make a good point. I'm using "important" and "essential" essentially interchangeably. It's up to you to decide what is necessary and what isn't. To me, entertainment isn't essential, but it IS important as it keeps society happy. We could certainly do without another street performer, but I've stood and watched them (and thrown in a few bucks) here and there. Thanks for setting me straight. :)

Street performer does not have any benefits; healthcare, paid sick leave, paid vacation, a guaranteed pay check. I used to envy people who were self employed; not working when you didn't feel like it, not paying taxes or social security. But now that I'm retired I'm so happy that I have social security, and because I had a steady income I have money in a 401K to live on. A childhood friend of mine who was always self employed is still working because he has to!

OP, the street performer makes more money than you because he has more talent than you and society values his talent more than they value your services. I'm sorry to have to point this out, but a well-trained monkey can perform most tasks required of typical bank employees. This is why most banking jobs are gradually being replaced by machines (this started with ATMs in the 1980s).

hahahahaha this FML and the comments made me lol!
