Today, I found out that, after offering to fill out my student aid application for me, my mother sent all of my personal information to a scam site instead. FML

"But honey, the nice man in the email said I was the lucky visitor!"

That's why you always handle that kind of stuff yourself.

Call your bank/credit card company and tell them what information she sent. they can offer you ways to avoid further damages (like changing your account number). It's probably gonna cost you but not doing so is probably gonna cost much more. And everybody would you give the student a break? My father helps me fill forms all the time, I help him with translating stuff from English to our language... It's not lazyness, not everyone understands all the financial mambo jumbo in the application forms.

Nigeria has nothing on the international lotto. I win that every day... I just can't figure out how to claim :( Maybe this guys mom can send my information to them for me.

this is why you fill your own stuff out.

Student aid paid for some of my college, but you have to be poor to get anything. Or old. Didn't get shit til I was 27.

Ooo...lesson learned, dont let your mom send things for you anymore/:

Drag it out until 2014 just to piss her off!

Quick! Gather her information and send it to a scam site! No, I'm kidding. That's very unfortunate.

My mom almost signed me up for the paid service to fill out my Fafsa last year facepalm

You wil you now get you're share of money you inherited from a guy in India. Oh wait, that's an email scam.
