OP Here. I don't suffer idiots well means that I don't tolerate or deal with idiots well. Which is utter crap. It is an excuse to get out of giving me the promotion they've been promising me for years. Now they have an alternate (totally unqualified candidate) so they are passing me over. FML. Onto bigger and better things I guess.

At least the job offers promotions. Try working one that doesn't... sigh...
I have a hard time dealing with people of low intelligence too, but you need to vope with them because there are many different jobs with many kinds of people.
Sounds like you got punked... by idiots.
Your boss is an ******
Find a better job, one that is more promising than idiots.
I feel your pain...but unfortunately, we're surrounded by idiots, morons, and dumb-asses. Either learn to put up with idiots, morons, and dumb-asses, or learn to love your current job. Me...I've had the same job for many years now. I could learn to love the job, the other option did not work out. There's just too many of them.
Ya, it sounds like op may be condescending to the idiots and therefore the boss doesn't want to promote him to a position in charge of the idiots. Either work on being nicer to them and treating them as equals or else resign yourself to the fact that you won't be promoted.
well, I suggest you get over it, because there will be idiots everywhere you go.
It's an old expression meaning the person has no tolerance for idiots.
I don't either.
So was it "I don't suffer idiots well", which implies that's what your boss said to you, meaning he thinks you're an idiot, [which is what your post actually says] or was it I "don't suffer idiots well", indicating your boss thinks you are intolerant of idiots? Quotes matter!! If you wrote the former but meant the latter then YDI.
Can a FML be edited? Because the “I” is clearly not in quotes as of 8pm pacific.
