Today, I found out that my 2 week Christmas vacation my boss was talking about wasn't for this year, but 2010. I spent the day with my husband cancelling flights to Florida, and explaning to my 8 year old why we were not going to Disney World. FML

Today, I found out the time I'd requested off for a trip in 2 months, that my boss said that I could go on, wasn't fully processed, just in case he decided I couldn't go. He told me the second part after I'd bought no refund tickets for shows for both me and my girlfriend. FML

Today, my parents confirmed we were going to be taking a Disney World trip for Christmas vacation. I already knew that we were taking a trip, but I was now missing a week of school. Being in 3 honors and an A.P. class, I said that I didn't want to go. I got called an "ungrateful, little prick". FML

Today, I found out that I have to reschedule my upcoming honeymoon because my office will be understaffed that week, due to the boss going on vacation right after my wedding. Oh, yeah, and he's in my bridal party. FML

Today, I found out that my family has paid for and booked a trip to Dubai without me. They weren't going to tell me until they were about to board but since I was crying that my friend ditched me for my holiday, they thought they would let me know. FML

Today, I was told I would also be covering some of my boss's shifts next week. She gets to go on a vacation to Europe with the bonus we earned her last year. That's why she was tightening our deadlines to the point where some of the employees had to hire babysitters for their children so we could stay at work. FML

Today, while at work, I was asked to see my boss. I was informed that the company would be laying off 20 people, and that I was one of them. I was told I could finish off the week, then was sent back to work. Twenty minutes later, my boss walked around and handed us all Christmas party invitations. FML

you dont want to go to disney anywhere near the holidays anyway. its so busy and your kid will be so mad with waiting in 2-3 hour lines that everyone will hate it. its probably a good thing. buy your kid a pony or something instead

did you talk to the boss about it? I as a boss would have been pissed but would let you go or give you the chance to find someone to cover your areas (if that's the concern).

OP: That's just awful!! Breaking a kid's heart must be one of the hardest things to do. Redbluegreen, sorry for you! That makes me truly sad :( I had an experience, but thank God I don't remember because I was too young. Hugs!

Your are a flippin jerk COBRAMORPH. And no with today's economy the way it is, a woman's place is NOT in the home (unless they want it to be) it is at a job because more and more the only way families can get by is when both parents work. You need to get with the times, and its her business if she wants to work or not. I recommend you take a sociology class, might do you some good!
