Exactly. If women want an expensive ring, then they should buy an expensive ring for their significant other. You want your man to shell out 2000-3000 dollars for your ring, but not get him anything in return? I don't believe in that. If my significant other wanted to buy me a pricey ring, I'd buy him one too. And if I couldn't afford it, then we'd pick a budget that suited BOTH of our needs.

Looking at a pic of the ring - it's pretty clear you were expecting and thought you got a major piece of bling. Only a complete idiot would think it was the real deal. YDI
