It's a ring, it's symbolism if anything. It doesn't entertain, put food on the table, pay the bills, or do anything of any significance and is easily stolen. I find it amazing that people make such an emotional investment in something that is essentially worthless.
He should have got the ring with the AM/FM radio built in. She would have liked that better.
If you are complaining that your fiance lied to you about the value of the ring, then FYL; I wouldn't want a fiance like that. However, my sympathy for the OP only goes so far. How much did YOU spent on his ring? My guess: $0.00, because you didn't buy him a ring. Does the ring look good, or is it an eyesore? By your own admission, it's "beautiful." Is there some function that a real ring serves but your ring doesn't? No, except "wasting money", since diamond rings have no useful function. Get over it.
You're assuming things yourself FFML. "I don't think she's arguing the fact that her marriage should be about the cost of the ring, but more about the sensitivity and sentiment that her fiance should have. It's obvious he hurt her feelings and had he made a big ordeal about it and put a ton of thought into it, I doubt she'd be bitching about it" Wow. They should have people like you on Criminal Minds! I mean, you just deduced all of that from 2 lines? wow, that's something. The point is, we can't know anything here. It could be the guy is broke, and couldn't afford something more expensive so he bought that ring. It's possible he exeggerated about the price as well. But than this could ALSO come from good intentions, or at least he didn't want to seem like a cheapbroke loser in his fiance's eyes. This is one of many possibilities. In her eyes the ring is beautiful, as she said so herself. As long as she loves the ring, and they love each other, that's what matters. Oh and please, some of you are actually saying there's a difference? So there's a difference if he had went to some store and bought another ring for $19.95 rather than the infomercial one? Huh? I don't see any reason here.
What the hell are you complaining about? You said it's beautiful, and more importantly he wants to marry you. It isn't about the ring anyway. Jesus, lady, it's people like you that give other women a bad name. (Guys, we aren't ALL materialistic, you know. Just... disregard this chick.)

The important thing is that you like it and he got it for you.
it's the thought that counts as long as it's beautiful why does it even matter and money is hard these days so wow
