Today, I found out that my dad makes me wear dresses and skirts not because I look pretty in them, but because he was sick and tired of people asking him if I was a boy or a girl. FML

Isn't it a little bit harsh to tell OP that she doesn't act like a girl, whilst you absolutely don't know her? And now I wonder, what is 'acting like a girl' actually? Talking about your period? Wear stilleto's? Constantly giggling? What if OP likes to be a tomboy? Or what if she just looks manly? I think she has the right to complain, it's obvious that she never knew she looked unisex, and I guess it's not nice to discover.

FYL, but it would be even worse if OP was a boy!!

Eh, if you're genuinely happy looking androgynous, I'd do my best to ignore the moronic types. Some people, through no fault of their own, will never have the ability to see past "skirt=girl and tie=boy" way of thinking. I look rather androgynous, and I'm regularly hit on by gay, straight, and bi people of both genders. People claiming you won't find a guy (assuming that's even what you're into) if you don't cake on the makeup have no idea what they're talking about. Anyways, as the ever-brilliant Doctor House pointed out, people like androgyny, even if they don't know it. Think of supermodels; wide shoulders, extremely tall, angular faces, surprisingly flat chests... and yet they're considered the most attractive women out there. Of course, if the androgyny comes as a surprise to you, and you're not happy about it, that's another story. But insisting on skirts and dresses is a rather heavy-handed way to enforce gender on someone... there do exist subtler and less extreme ways of looking distinctly feminine.
