I know how you feel OP. It's not too fun when people you don't know talk to your parent referring to you as he, him, your son, etc.
Maybe when he was younger everyone thought he was a girl :o
You deserved it for cross-dressing
Once you get over being offended, confusing people about your gender can be amusing. I wear a fair amount of eye make-up, but almost no foundation (with iffy skin), and have short hair. People don't seem to care most of the time, but I have to wear a (rather baggy) vest at work and I'm an A cup so I don't show at all. I also have to wear a collared shirt. I have no piercings or jewellery. I get a lot of confused people who mumble or mutter their gender identifiers when they have to refer to me (confusion about this seems more common in older people). I used to be a touch offended but now I realize that they just can't spot any of their usual gender identifiers- and can't tell when people are wearing makeup. This is especially amusing considering my recorded voice is hella high pitched. People are just too lazy to think it through, they would rather have visual, simple identifiers, which really aren't necessary at all.

lady gaga's writing fmls now?
Isn't it a little bit harsh to tell OP that she doesn't act like a girl, whilst you absolutely don't know her? And now I wonder, what is 'acting like a girl' actually? Talking about your period? Wear stilleto's? Constantly giggling? What if OP likes to be a tomboy? Or what if she just looks manly? I think she has the right to complain, it's obvious that she never knew she looked unisex, and I guess it's not nice to discover.
