While I agree you have the potential of making the money yourself, I disagree with many comments on here. By virtue of what your mom did, while it was her right it was still a cruel reason she gave. You now have license to not invite her to your wedding, and to let everyone you know know why when the day comes. The bride's family paying for it has no age limit.
I'm 21 and engaged. My fiancé and I are paying for it ourselves and we have half the money.
