better cards than crack everyone needs a hobby.
" Today I found out my girlfriend is a bitch. No wonder she is still a vergin... FML "
"Freaks?" You're the one with the name "AntiChrist7" Go be original some more.
I second everyone on the tolerance factor, but mostly what amazes me is that the way OP worded her post it sounds as if this came as a massive surprise after a significant amount of time spent dating this guy. Is it me or shouldn't the "what do you do in your spare time?" question come up during, say, the FIRST date??? Isn't that one of the main criteria to assess compatibility with someone? So what was she dating him for? YDI.
Holy Shit!! People are getting angry at the OP. First, give her a break, most people, except I guess FML members know much about the game. I played it in my very early teens and thought it was fun but from an outside viewer it looks incredibly lame and nerdy. I know as soon as my interest in girls sparked I dropped that game as fast as I could. And yes it has a bad stigma because most kids at least when I went to high school who played it were petty anti social. I have a friend who used to be pretty into it and he says you wouldn't believe the amount of money people drop on the game. Also if he is traveling a lot, then he is probably spending a lot of money on that. Though i guess from peoples comments you can win money as well (personally I doubt you can win much)! But seriously give her a break, at first glance to most people a magic enthusiast is on the same level as WOW addict. Not the most attractive quality!
If she's dating him, she should look halfway into his hobbies before running off to bitch about it. And: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Events.aspx?x=mtgcom/protour/sandiego10 $230,000.
Ok sure the 1st place get $40,000, and you if you place in the top 20 your making pretty damn good money, but after that if your lucky enough to place your probably just paying for your trip unless you live in the area. It's not like the world poker tour where the prizes are in the millions. And also no one mentioned this, but I get the vibe that the OP's BF was hiding his hobby since she just found out about it today. Seems like the BF is the reason she knows nothing about the game, since he didn't tell about it till now! Seriously people are you surprised that the OP finds it off putting that her current boy friend has been hiding a fantasy card game hobby from her.
I wouldn't consider this to be a FYL. M:TG is really more of a hobby kind of thing (and yes that is buying the cards as well as going to the conventions). If he had a hobby like playing a sport or an instrument, would you still complain? Probably not. But in ay case, it could be worse. He could be a WoW addict. That is far worse. People don't leave their computer for days in some cases.

So? This isn't a FML. This is you not being accepting of other people's hobbies.
"Some guy I'm not even committed to has a hobby. FML."
