Today, I found out the guy I've been dating is heavily into a mystical card game and spends all of his money going to "Magic" card conventions across the country. FML

So? This isn't a FML. This is you not being accepting of other people's hobbies.

"Some guy I'm not even committed to has a hobby. FML."

What I don't understand is people saying YDI . She discovers the guy she's dating likes a card game and is going to spend alot of his money on it. So is it the OP's fault?.....

no because she won't accept his hobby, MTG is the shit :)

Magic cards are awesome! They were really popular when I was in elementary school but I couldn't afford them :( FYL for not realizing how awesome your boyfriend is.

I know your pain, i know exactly how you feel, he spent 80 on only 7 stupid cards....i know how you feel.

so? it's his money, he can choose what he wants to spend it on! That's the problem with a lot of people, they care too much about what people spend thier money on. As long as your actually paying for the necessities first, any extra money can be spent on what they want to spend it on. For me, I spend ny extra money on expensive purses and anime. My fiancée spends it on video games and poker. To each, his/her own!

sorry, but unless your bill gates or donald trump, there is no such thing as "extra money".

that's not necessarily true. I had extra money for a while. I mean I had to pay $50 a month to my parents and that was it. The rest of my paychecks were for what ever I wanted to use it for. But Now jobless because of the economy, I have no money left, and am back to living with my mom and step-dad.

alicia_was_here 3

and you would have been better off if you had saved that money. your an example of the myth of 'extra money'.

No actually I wouldn't cause I would be living with my tyrant of a father still. I'm glad he kicked me out when my account rand dry cause I had to do everything his way and I'm 18. At least with my mom there is wiggle room and they realize how bad the economy actually is. Cause my step-dad is on unemployment. unlike my actual father who still has his job. They're not making me pay rent or anything.

alicia_was_here 3

you dont have to be kicked out to leave, you could have left on your own. and moving in with your mother would be a good idea, but you should have been saving. just because you didnt have to pay rent and only had a few bills, doesnt mean its a good idea to blow money you didnt use for those bills. unless your planning on living with your mom for the rest of your life, then it would have been smarter to save your money. but hey, its your life, and if 'extra money' exists in your fantasy world, then okay, but here in the real world, especially in this economy, 'extra money' is not real.

I don't plan on living with her for the rest of my life. But you know. What I do with MY money is MY choice. I told my dad the same things. I bought my own necessities first, then I bought what I wanted. Besides I had money saved up. But you know I ran out paying for college, you know tuition, books, a computer to do my work, and if it weren't for my mom having me on her cellphone plan I wouldn't have a phone.

I play Magic and I'm a girl. I don't see why you're making such a big deal about this. If you actually tried taking an interest in his hobbies instead of criticizing it, then you might have something better to do than write FMLs all day.

#223 If you didn't play that shit and actually had a life..than you would have FML's to write instead of commenting on others :)

wow dum **** i play the game and i also have a life

Well, I'm sorry I have a life that doesn't cause me to have to write FMLs. I guess I'm just lucky like that.

#225 I played the game when I was in high school which was only little under a year ago. But nonetheless II had a life. I mean I had a beautiful amazing girl who accepted me for me entirely and tried to be someone other than just a friend. Which was rare cause most girls in my school were afraid of falling in love with me, knowing well that when I graduated I was out of that town and no one was stopping me. Our relationship failed for a whole different reason though that is a lot more personal.

Ask him to give you a tarot reading. If he can't do that, you're wrong and a ****.

im sorry that you dont like your evidently smarter boyfriend that has an addiction to a stratagy card game

^HAHA^ I love how very MTG player on here makes themselves sound like some genius who is winning thousands playing this game. the OP of course has to be complete idiot/bitch/control freak because she concerned that her BF is traveling around the country going to magic the gathering conventions!!

Were you trying to be clever by peppering that one up with a thesaurus? Not only is playing Magic: the Gathering fun as hell, but it's actually quite a good hobby to have. Do you know how much some of the rarer cards can sell for? If he can support himself and you (which I bet he can because you didn't complain about his living conditions) then who cares?

My boyfriend is into M:TG. I at first was weary, because we now have over like 10,000 cards in our apartment. Instead of getting rid of them, I finally decided to ask him to teach me to play. It really is a fun game! So this bitch is just that..a bitch.

He doesnt mean they are magic conventions, the game is called 'Magic' smarty
