Today, I found out what it's like to drive seven hours home with a woman who just brutally rejected your marriage proposal. FML

She isn't automatically wrong for rejecting it, oddly enough. And it's hard to trust the assessment of brutal from somebody who got turned down. Maybe he asked in a big public display and she had to either turn him down then, or say yes then tell him "actually, no" later on. Either would feel rough. Plus they may still be together, it's not always all or nothing.

You escaped easily. Seven hours is long, but compared to "happily ever after" it is nothing.

Ouch. Sorry she said no. She should of made her own way back. You're to kind

And you didn't ask her to leave the car because.....?

I would've left the bitch and sent her packing, **** that lol

Seriously. Especially if OP's read any other FMLs involving the word "proposal," he should've known to at least discuss marriage on general terms with his girlfriend before popping the question!

One day you'll find the person who would say yes before you even finish the proposal. Just cheer up!

Sorry to hear it didn't go well, but at least you asked. Love is a beautiful thing, and if the cost of pursuit is an occassional humiliation, or awkwardness it's well worth the price I think. Chin up :)
