How is someone else just magically paying off a $16,000 dollar loan even remotely possible? I would've automatically assumed it was a mistake or something to that extent. But someone else just paying it off? That wouldn't have even occurred to me. Maybe i just have poor friends...
Even if a friend did do it, I'd be a little freaked out by it. I'd feel like I'd always owe them for it, or that they secretly want something from me. :(
#12, Rolling Jubilee randomly pays off debt, but I think only debt that's in default.
Same thing has happened to my house mortgage, three times. It's confusing not knowing where to send that check! :P
Unless you're friends with Bill Gates, that loan won't magically disappear.
Similar thing happened to my joint line of credit when my mom sold her house. The bank paid off all her loans, closed the accounts then gave her the difference from the house sale. I called the bank and they said a lawyer paid it off. I didnt dare ask any more questions, until i realized my paychecks would start bouncing...
Sadly miracles like these never happen
Hoe does it make any sense at all that some random person decided to pay off your $16,000 loan?
OP- I really hope your loan didn't go to pay for a degree in accounting!

If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is.
I think I would have called and confirmed with the company that the loans had been payed off before getting too excited OP. You kind of set yourself up for disappointment.
