Today, I got a bikini wax. They said it wouldn't hurt too badly, and that it would just sting. My friend heard me screaming from all the way down the hall in the waiting room. FML

They're right. It doesn't hurt "too badly" it hurts like a bitch.

How could you think that it wasn't gonna hurt? That's a really sensitive area of skin...

just like when you go to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. Oh No. you won't feel a thing. bullshit!

False. I had 4 of my bottom teeth pulled at once when I was in Kindergarten. Didn't feel a thing :)

I love my dentist. She doesn't make it hurt.

Dentist? My dad tied my tooth to a door and slammed it.

My dad would always get out a pair of needle nose pliers.

Better than having damn chewbaca in your pants Op

I do my own Brazilians. They are not that bad. Either you got a bad waxer, or you're a baby. So many women blow it way out of proportion.

I did my own Brazilian wax once. I bled.

Agreed. I usually do it a week before my period which apparently is the worse time and it barely hurts... But I depends for everyone, i suppose: for example, my half legs hurt like hell!!

Well aren't you just a Brazilian waxing bad ass. ;)

I agree, and she only had a bikini wax!! she was probably really hairy or originally a shaver to make the hairs extra stubborn!

36- To be fair, everyone has a different threshold for pain. Having a low tolerance naturally doesn't make her a "baby".

I'm pretty sure the reason they're calling her a baby is BECAUSE she has such a low threshold for pain... And if she exposed herself to a little more, she might not scream like one.

And I'm pretty sure my point was that your pain tolerance isn't always something that can be improved. Everyone's different. I work with two students who have OI, which is a disorder where they break bones at random, doing normal things. One of them has broken over 100 bones at the age of 15. Despite the fact they experience the same pain repeatedly, they say it doesn't get any easier or less painful.

but waxing gets easier!!!!! as if breaking bones would get easier?!

132- Please refer back to the first sentence of my last post (128). All I'm saying is OP should not be considered a baby for something that could very well be out of her control. Repeated exposure to something, no matter what it is, does not guarantee a higher pain tolerence. Not trying to start a debate about bikini waxes, guys. Just stating my opinion. :)

haven't you ever seen 40 year old virgin? it just looks like it hurts.

I don't understand how women can pour hot wax on their sensitive areas, rip out their hair by the roots, pluck their eyebrows out with tweezers, and still be afraid of a bumblebee/bug/fly etc. Seriously?!

Um. Not all women are afraid of bugs. I squish at least half the spiders in this household.

What does pain tolerance have to do with fear of insects?

Might I mention women are designed to deal with pain, however the natural instinct to avoid creatures that could be poisonous and/or affect your health in a negative manner has less to do with pain and more to do with the possibilities aforementioned

And on another note, maggots aren't going to kill or even hurt me, yet they still freak me the **** out, yet I'll kill a spider and punch out a fly (I have done this, twice, once unintentionally, the other time fully intentionally - KOed cold both times)

typically, women have a higher threshold of pain, probably because of childbirth. similar to the fact that typically, men are stronger. not trying to start a debate here! and personally, I think it's all worth it. you get used to it.

Actually, woman typically have a lower threshold of pain, except during childbirth during which their body is flooded with hormones and endorphins to reduce pain.

Obviously not all women are afraid of bugs...but I'd be willing to bet many who wax are. Most likely a majority.

What the hell do waxing and a phobia for insects have anything to do with the other?

I wax & I'm not afraid of bugs...

Waxing doesn't hurt. I do it myself all the time - including in the bikini area.

It hurts some people more than others.
