Today, I got a job at a casino where I was actually planning on spending my 21st birthday next month. After they hired me, they told me no employees are allowed to play or gamble on or off the clock, for as long as they are employed there, or termination will immediately follow. FML

Congratulations on the job! I know it sucks that you can't gamble there anymore, but think about it this way - you've scored yourself consistent employment and are saving yourself from blowing all of your money. Is there another casino near that one where you can celebrate by any chance?

Be happy you don't live in Pennsylvania. My mother works at a casino in town and she isn't allowed to gamble at any casino in the entire state.

Big deal. Casinos are dumb. Just go to a restaurant or a club instead.

It seems sort of stupid that they wouldn't want a chance win back the money they pay you for working there, but I guess I understand the reason behind it

Um, how can you win back something they're giving you?

39 meant they thought it was weird that the Casino didn't want OP gambling the money they pay her wages with at the casino. Because it would technically mean the casino would get the money they paid to her back.

Same policy for our Canadian Casinos, well the ones all around me. Luckily I ain't employed there, if you were then you can not attend any other casino's in the area.

Save your money. Casinos are over rated...

This is a pretty common rule for working at a casino. maybe you should have done more research into the company you applied for.

I thought it was common knowledge you couldn't? They're concerned about cheating. My mom works at a gas station and isn't allowed to buy any lottery tickets or scratch offs from there on or off the clock.

so no employee discount then....

That really sucks OP. That should've been something they tell you during an interview, but it's also something you should've looked up, as most casinos don't allow employees to gamble there.

There are way better places to go for your birthday anyway. Why would you want to spend it at a casino?
