Tell then to go get ****** and just do your job. If you're higher up, then you have the power. If not, just ignore them and slowly wreak havoc across the office.
show them how awesome you are, then they will start to deal with the loss of their old coworker, and begin to like you as well:]
Ouch. :( They're jerks for doing that to you. Sorry about that, OP.
went through the same thing a year ago. it sucks. be friendly but trust NO ONE!
Wow, they sound like indecent assholes. Good luck.
Well you have a job and nobody is paying you to be friends with them they will get over it be lucky you have a job
that sucks but it'll blow over when they get to know you. they sound dumb for disliking you over something you knew nothing about.
Had this happen to me. They apparently worshiped the previous guy. Got compared to him for about a year. No matter what I did, they'd point out how he did it better. I'd handle 5-6 things at once, they'd say how he used to do twice as much. Another new guy and I started mocking them, comparing the old guy to some sort of folk legend. We'd make up tall tales about how that previous guy could do "Paul Bunyon" scale tasks like rip trees out of the ground with his bare hands, eat them whole and crap full reams of paper for the copier. Eventually our sensationalism made everyone else shut up about the previous employee.
It always sucks to be the new guy.

Well that's not fair of them, they don't even know you. Sounds awesome to work with them.
