Today, I got a ticket for having my brights on. The street was pitch black and it was 1:30 in the morning. FML

yeah, it turns out that even if it's dark out, you're still supposed to turn off your brights when you meet another car. driver's ed drop out? this is probably the same person that drives in the rain with no headlights on and wipers going mach 10. "Why do I need to turn on my lights? I can see where I'm going." YDI

no, you should actually never use brights in fog...

If it's pitch black, the tiniest bit of light can make a huge difference, and you don't usually need to turn on the brighter of the lights.

laws suck. everyone join me to murder, steal, and rape.

no, you got a ticket for not dimming your lights and blinding oncoming traffic like the raging douche, or am I suppose to feel sorry for you?

Good. I hate it when assholes like you drive with their high beams on.

Yeah op but regardless you're supposed to turn them down when another car comes. Obviously there was another car if someone was giving you a ticket...

It's illegal to have brights on in a residential area. On a main street or highway it is allowed if no street lights are on Reason being is it disturbs the whole neighborhood

Huh. The only reason I can see it being illegal is if it's in the middle of a crowded city. Even the residential areas near me are surrounded by woods, and highbeams are usually the only way to avoid hitting a deer.
