Today, I got an e-mail from a guy I'd had a one night stand with. He wanted to get together to talk about it. Turns out he's in rehab and he wanted to address the biggest mistakes he'd ever made in his life. I am a on a drug addict's list of regrets. FML

Today, I went on a first date with a guy I really hit it off with. Then he admitted that he was a recovering heroin addict and had to cut our date short to go to the methadone clinic. When I got home, I realized that my wallet was missing $40. I think he lied about the "recovering" part. FML

Today, I found out that while I was attending AA meetings to help understand how to help my boyfriend of 7 years when he got back from rehab, that he was not in rehab at all. He was on vacation. With his wife. FML

Today, I received a text from the guy I'm into, thanking me for helping him drunkenly stumble back to his apartment last night. He ended it with, "How long did you stay?" Apparently, he doesn't remember confessing his secret love for me, or the fantastic kiss that followed. FML

Today, I called my boyfriend over and over again and he never answered. His mom just called me and asked how I was holding up. I asked her what she meant and she had to tell me he checked himself into rehab because he was addicted to heroin. FML

I don't know why you're so offended. In rehab, one of the steps is making an inventory of everything you did that was harmful to yourself, that you regretted. One Night Stands aren't usually anyone's high points.

This guy, like the guy a few weeks ago who called the woman he was having sex with shortly after confession to say she made him feel dirty, needs a swift kick in the back of the head. If you regret having sex with someone, fine. Just take responsibility by making sure that the other person is not hurt, and see how you can change your life to make sure you don’t have that regret again. Don’t try to spread the guilt.

It's not insult. He probably felt regretful that he didn't try to establish a connection with you rather than using you like a cum dumpster. Also, there's nothing wrong with one night stands and I could only hope to ever have one. I suppose a guy can always wish. :-/

well if youre on his list of regrets, you might as well do a nice thing and meet him so he can get past it. you obviously didn't care that it was a one night stand, so it shouldnt make a difference for you. just meet him so he can get on with his rehab. it can't do you any harm.

#10 is right about the rehab place probably telling him that one night stands are sinful and the such. Most rehab places rely on the power of faith to help people overcome addiction. I personally don't like one night stands at all though. I prefer healthy relationships that are built on trust, respect, and most importantly love (yes that four letter "L" word that is deeper than lust). Either way, OP, you should be happy that he's trying to get cleaned up and make himself better. He might not have meant that you were on his list of regrets, just the fact that you two had sex without commitment. Something like that at least.

Maybe he regrets the way in which you had sex. Did he give you the old rusty trombone? Maybe a hot carl? Doesn't sound like you were standing much during your one night stand. Maybe you should have said "one night of having his foreskin pulled over my eyes like Egyptian Sun Goggles."
