Today, I got back from a 3 and a half week trip to South Africa to do volunteer work with children in townships. My parents forgot to pick me up, and I had to sit there by myself and wait for them, while 80 people of the same organization got loving hugs from their proud parents. FML

That sucks. Props for helping out the poor kids here. I think it's funny how some people assume that everyone from South Africa is poor and lives in a shack. Yes there are a lot ot people like that, but S.A is mainly cities. I'm white, born and raised and living in a city in S.A. Nothing third world African poverty about it. So everyone who says YDI for coming here can die in a hole. I admire you for coming this far to help out the less fortunate, and your parents will someday admire you too.

I'm sorry OP. I kinda know how that feels.

agreed! If you and ur parents have enough for a trip to Africa, the u should have no problem getting a car... or get a ****** taxi. grow up and quit crying about baby shit on this site.

Well I'm sure you know there are children who suffer a lot more, it's always good to put things in perspective. And I think it's very good of you to volunteer, and even though your parents might not show their appreciation too well, they're probably proud of you. And a lot more people too :)

YDI for doing volunteer work for selfish reasons (ie your parents aproval and others recognition in general)

I can't recall how many times my parents forgot to pick me up. often from church classes they forced me to attend. walking home 3 miles in the dark isn't my idea of a wonderful evening. at least they let you go. So stop whining and/or start walking or flag a cab.

well, maybe it's time to find yourself a girl who would show up when your parents forger
