Today, I got back to my apartment from being away for the past week on Spring break. I found the locks on my apartment changed and all my things on the curb, many of them broken or stolen. I ran to the leasing office to see what had happened. Turns out it was an accounting error on their part. FML

well i'm sure either you/they have insurance, and you can always take them to court, esp. to sue them for not only material but also "emotional" damages.

sue dem bitch asses. they can't do that. and then when you get your money, hire a hitman and kill them and take theiir stuff

It is completely illegal to lock the resident out of their apartment. Regardless of whether or not they meant to do it to you or someone else, they need to give adequate notice and call the local police department if the resident refuses to leave, not take it upon their own hands to move them out. Since they took it upon themselves, you definitely can take this to court.

This sucks, but if your stuff was stolen, you wouldn't see it on the curb, right?

Sue them and make them pay for every thing.

It's quite obvious that there are about 2000 votes who choose "you deserve it" with every fml no matter what the scenario. Most of the percentages on each fml between "you deserve it" and "your life sucks" makes sense with this rule in mind.
