I have to admit that's creative. Probably the lowest, most cowardly way to break up with someone, but creative nonetheless.
Make sure to show him the same respect and completely ignore him. Just let your eyes slide right on by him in public and don't say a word. What a scumbag, and the counselor is a real dirtbag by going along with it. We shouldn't be encouraging spineless losers.

I think the guidance counselor may just as well have been tricked into it. Anyone could have called in and said "she's having a rough day since her bf broke up with her.." and the guidance counselor could have assumed it was something she already knew, and not that he was the one telling her. It could have happened so many ways, but the end result is still your ex is a douchebag, and he saved you much wasted time spent with him by breaking up. Sorry for what you have to go through, OP, but you DEFINITELY deserve better!!!!
