Even if you did go to a trump rally, you can't be fired for your political views. That's discrimination
Sue them.
I'm agreeing with #12. I don't think the issue is a Trump frenzy, erm, rally, but rather that OP was out sick, so doing anything other than being sick would be breaking the rules.
If they called out I could see that being the problem. But since OP said "took a day off" I assumed that means a vacation day or asking not to be scheduled if it's part time.
I smell a lawsuit.
I know a lot of others probably said this already but this is just such a ****** up thing. To actually get fired for 'hypothetically' going to support a candidate that could potentially be our future president is disheartening. Despite their political beliefs that's just shocking. I know you didn't actually go to a Trump Rally but to get fired because of the accusation you did is appalling
I guess "you're fired."
As your neighbour to the north is like to inform you that I've attempted to call the fire department for your burning home however all lines are busy. Seriously though, wrongful termination much?
Fight him I mean your fired so nothing gonna happen

You shouldn't be able to be fired because of your political views... even if it was your coworker that said them. Talk to HR.
If u have a signed proof that u took the day off then u should not be fired.
