Today, I got into trouble at work because a customer complained about my face tattoo, I don't have a face tattoo but I do have one behind my ear. Nonetheless, I still got written up and had to cover it with a band-aid, which ripped out hair when I took it off. FML

I don't understand why people are so offended by ink. Unless it's derogatory or gang related.

With your name instating heather can't you cover that tattoo with your hair?

More like people who are so busy worrying about other people's tattoos instead of their own problems are terrible. Having a tattoo doesn't make you a bad person. Assuming someone is imply for that does

I have a few tattoos including one behind my ear, our company policy is to hide tattoos as much as possible but they don't really care and most of the managers all have bisible ones as well. Only time someone made a comment was a lady asked my I has a satanic symbol on my neck (it's a triquetra)

You may already know this, idk, but an Irish Trinity Knot (aka Celtic Knot or triquetra) is heavily linked to catholic/christian history. It was originally believed to be linked to monks that brought about the Christian religion's start. Then pagans seemed to adopt it later on. With that said, christians have a common theme of taking things from pagan culture so you could just as easily say it originated there, satanic or not for pagans I have no clue. If you want to throw off anyone calling a celtic knot a "satanic symbol" simply say that, "the 3 points represent the father, son, and holy ghost from the bible. The circle represents eternity, eternal life, and eternal love from God." I had a Celtic Knot drawn on my body during a festival simply because I have an interest in my heritage (Irish). When a friend's mother asked the exact same thing, "satanic symbol" bullshite, that's what I told her. She shut up right quick. Always nice to know more about the culture you don't really believe in than the believers themselves. It makes them stuff their own words.

If you had the tattoo when they hired you and they never asked you to cover it up when at work previously then writing you up was bullshit.

Ok that is so stupid. People need to mind their own business about other people's tattoos. It's a personal decision and it's not hurting anyone so people need to get over themselves!

I hate how people can bitch about people's own choices like that.

The tattoo isn't affecting the customer so why would they complain about it?

As the owner of a company, I have tats and enjoy body art. I also would not hire someone with a facial tattoo. Not only do I personally believe that facial tats look tacky, but it makes a poor impression of my company for our clients. It is your right to have whatever modifications done to your body that you choose, but be aware of the consequences of those modifications and how they will be perceived by employers and the general public. Visible tats will limit your job opportunities, and facial tats will limit them further. That being said, this employer chose to hire OP knowing she had the tat. If they did not have a problem with it before, they should not have a problem with it at this point. Also, don't use a band aid to cover the tat. There are many concealer make-ups available on the market. Furthermore, liquid latex does a great job of concealing tats (especially for forearm sleeves) and does not rub off during the day.

FYL. The boss wouldve undoubtedly known you had a tattoo there if a customer saw it once. Especially working in customer service, employers factor in visible tattoos and piercings. If it was a problem then they should have said from the start but obviously didn't deem it inappropriate. So why now?

Well, that seems like BS since they know you don't even have a tattoo on your face. But since it's behind your ear, it's probably pretty small - you should be able to conceal it with makeup pretty easily. If you are pretty light-skinned, Kat Von D Tattoo Eraser pencil is a good one and relatively inexpensive. Just to try to prevent anymore "complaints" and write-ups.
