Today, I got mad at my parents and threatened to run away. Things got so bad that I packed a bag and left, planning to hide in my front yard to teach them a lesson. It's been two hours, and I'm still standing behind a bush in front of my house while they make no effort to look for me. FML

Today, my parents started fighting at a restaurant. Embarrassed, I went to the restroom to get away and stayed in there for about 15 minutes, knowing how long their fights can last. When I came back, they were gone. They'd ditched me, and left me to walk several miles back home. FML

Today, my parents were out and about, leaving me alone in the house. They said they would leave some lunch for me. I couldn't find it. After telling them when they got home, my mom got huffy and showed me that it was in a place I would have never thought to look. She then got even more mad when I was annoyed by this. FML

Today, I slipped out my bedroom window at night in an attempt to rebel against my parents. Then I realized that I have no friends and nowhere to go, so I tried to climb back in. I fell, broke my ankle, and laid in the dirt until my parents found me in the morning. FML

Today, my parents and I went to the movies for my mom's birthday. After the movie, my mom and dad got into a fight, and left me at the movies. My cell phone was dead, and my house was about 12 miles away. They finally came and picked me up, hours later. FML

Today, I tried to surprise my parents by coming home from college for Spring Break. I arrived to find a dark house, with all the doors bolted shut. After calling them, I found out that they have gone on a vacation to Hawaii for a week. I am now locked out of my own house, with no where to stay. FML

Today, I finally decided to stand up for myself and quit my crappy job working for my abusive father. I gave him a few insults too, to which he reacted by calling the police and claiming I'd threatened to murder him. I spent three hours in jail before they finally let me go. FML

Today, I moved out of my parents' house and started living alone. All of a sudden, my parents started requiring me to text or call them every 5 minutes to tell them where I am and what I'm doing, from 6am to 12am every day. If I don't, they will go looking for me, and force me to move back in with them. FML

Today, I decided to tan naked in a secluded part of my yard, so I wouldn't get tan lines. I even felt adventurous enough to leave my bikini and towel inside. This idea backfired however when my mom stopped home from work, assumed I wasn't home, and locked all the doors before she left again. FML

That sucks.... Ignore the people who " think " YDI cuz in the end your parents should have acted on it better... Hope things work out :) maybe you should go to a friends house for the night if possible

1. Why did you put "think" in quotation marks? 2. How could the parents have acted better, as you suggest? The OP was the one who was mad, who threatened to run away, and who "wanted to teach [his or her parents] a lesson. It seems to me, based on what is in front of me, that the OP was the instigator, and based on this FML, is a whiny, attention-seeking brat. Can you please explain to me how this is most likely NOT the case?

The police wouldn't really be able to do anything if it was only two hours and the kid left voluntarily with limited options of where to go. They could drive around the block and check the bus stations if it sounded serious, but they can't put out an Amber alert or start a search party until it's been at least a day. If I was OP's parent, I wouldn't want to look for them for at least thirty minutes. I would've stepped outside my door, saw the blue light from her phone behind the bush, and went to bed. OP sounds like a drama queen who "ran away" just to get a rise out of them. And I bet you OP didn't go to a friend's house because she was too embarrassed to say why she was fighting with her parents in the first place and she realized how stupid she sounded. I bet you that's also the reason why OP didn't say what the fight was about.

This reminds me of my sister she recently took off from home and stayed at her friends house for a few days and came back pissed that our parents didn't call or look for her... (she is 18 and told them she was an adult and didn't need them.)
