Today, I got my medical checkup back. Apparently, I'm diagnosed with a liver condition generally found in alcoholics. I've never drank in my life. FML

You can get liver problems if you mess around with pills. Same thing happened to my grandpa. Only one in my family who didn't drink a day in his life, but his doctors over-medicated him for a heart condition and he died from liver failure. I'd check any drugs you've been taking.

Maybe it's genetics? Some people get that from a long line of drinkers in their family. Alcohol's poison anyway and doesn't do well for your body. You're better off.

i think your friends have been pouring beer down your throat while you sleep.

Even if this happened as a result of medication, that doesn't mean he was overmedicated. Up until 1999, there was only medication that worked for me. Its well known to cause liver problems if you use it for more than 10 years. Yet if keppra hadn't been invented, my current options would be take tegretol or live in a coma. I know of alot of people through the EF who have been on tegretol for far longer than 10 years because its the only medicine that works for them. I can't comment on other condition, but there are only about 32 epilepsy drugs out there - and not all drugs work for all seizure types. My seizure type has 11 drugs. I'm allergic, or have had non-allergic reactions necessity removal to 9 of them. Tegretol is actually a drug they wouldn't have put me on had another option been available being as it made it difficult for me to stay awake more than a few hours at a time, caused me to have violent outbursts resulting in hitting anyone I thought might have offended me, etc. But considering the other ones that didn't pose an imminent thread of SJS made it so I could barely move at all, it was the best option at the time. At no time I was ever overmedicated on it - I was actually undermedicated due to my inability to handle the side effects of it. If I ended up with liver damage while on it, I couldn't have just "stopped taking it" because there was nothing available at the time to replace it with - and I had been having status epilepticus secondary generalized seizures. In otherwords, nonstop seizures that can only be stopped with medical intervention and the secondary generalized means they are the rare kind you see in movies - shaking, not breathing, the whole deal, as opposed to the partial seizures that are normal for me

It might be hepatitus C. You should get checked

ok first off to everyone who keeps saying something to the extent of at least you arent an alcoholic or at least your better that an alcoholic, screw you, you can get conditions like this from a trillion other things, soda is just as bad for your liver AND kidney function as alcohol, so are most sugary drinks. in this day and age im supprised this isnt more common. Not to mention in alcoholism the problem isnt that they drink its that they try and fill a void in their life with alcohol. like many people do with material goods or being popular, ect. its an emotional problem. my grandfather was an alcoholic and i watched him drink on many occasions that much of anything has got to be bad for you, dont blame alcohol.

NEVER drank in your life? Good god. And the doctor might be mistaken or something, go check it out.

Never drank in your life huh? Ah...poor you. Your such a drunk that you can't even remember ever taking a drink in the first place =P

Sorry OP, genes suck, i guess being Chinese this time screwed you over. And all those people who think that liver disease is only ever caused by alcohol really need to start reading a bit more..
